A day spent in Bath

Bath is a beautiful city located n Somerset, England. Known for the Roman built baths that are located here, this historically rich village is a very popular tourist attraction.

We recently visited this charming village and spent the day wondering the streets, visiting the Roman Bath Museum and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.

The Roman Baths:

Bath was founded upon natural hot springs with the steaming water playing a key role throughout its history. Lying in the heart of the city the Roman Baths were constructed around 70 AD as a grand bathing and socialising complex. It is now one of the best preserved Roman remains in the world.

1,170,000 litres of steaming spring water reaching 46 °C still fill the bathing site every single day. The Romans believed that this was the mystical work of the Gods but we now know that the water source, which comes from the King’s Spring, fell as rain water around 10,000 BC.

The museum at Bath is a must-see. There are multiple exhibits within the museum, each with a specific theme and time in history about the Roman Baths. The museum is featured surrounding the large Baths and allows you to get an insider view of both the workings and the history behind this incredible world heritage site.

You will also receive a audio-guide when you enter the museum. This allows you to go through the museum at your own pace. Each display has a number and you just input this number into your audio-guide to listen to the information about that specific display.
